Community in a Magickal Order

Main Hall

Stevie Grant, Chris Giroux, Deborah Stellhorn and Christopher Penczak

Are we a family? A tribe? Kin? Are we a group with common interests/goals? Answering these questions is a challenge for modern groups. Here in the Temple, we describe ourselves as a magickal order. Witchcraft has traditionally been taught in coven settings, and while many of us participate in covens, ours is not a tradition of teaching covens. We are not a tribe, yet many of us harken to tribal ideals and kinship. Join us to discuss community relationships in an Aquarian occult magickal order.

The Nature of Karma

Main Hall

Ivo Dominguez

Causality and synchronicity are intertwined in both linear and non-linear ways that result in consequences that are sometimes called karma, wyrd, and so on. For the sake of simplicity I will just use the word karma. Much is said of karma in spiritual and magickal communities, but little is said of its metaphysical structure or mechanism of action. This talk explores how karma arises from the web of life and is bound by the same metaphysical laws that govern magick. By viewing karma from this perspective, new insights on spiritual development are gained. The relationships between individual and group karma will also be clarified.

Ivo Dominguez, Jr. is a visionary and a practitioner of a variety of esoteric disciplines. He has been active in Wicca and the Pagan community since 1978 and has been teaching since 1982. Ivo was a founding member of the first coven of The Assembly of the Sacred Wheel, a Wiccan Tradition where he currently serves as one of its Elders.

He is the author of Casting Sacred Space: The Core Of All Magickal Work;Spirit Speak: Knowing and Understanding Spirit Guides, Ancestors, Ghosts, Angels, and the Divine; Beneath the Skins with other books in the pipeline as well. Matthew Venus

In this presentation we will focus upon the art of Amulet and Talisman making through an exploration of the role of symbols in magical traditions and practice. We will then begin to explore ascribing meaningful symbols to our own experiences to further enrich and inform or magical work and practices. Far from a by-the-book tutorial of predetermined rules, we will delve deeper into the technology and potential at play when creating personalized symbols, sigils, and systems of magic.

The Watchers of the Faery Tradition

Fire Pit

Storm Faerywolf

In the lore of the Old Craft it is said that the Witch Power comes from the blood of an ancient race, the Faeries and “fallen angels” from the time before humankind. The Faery tradition reveres these ancient powers and seeks communion with them in order to deepen our magical knowledge. In this rite in the style of BlueRose Faery tradition, we will invoke the ancient Watchers and connect with them in the hopes of receiving personal messages and guidance.

Betwixt & Between

Storm Faerywolf

The Faery tradition of witchcraft is a wildly diverse path of magic. Stemming from the teachings of the late Victor & Cora Anderson, Faery draws inspiration and power from many sources and offers those who would practice its hidden ways an opportunity to embrace the shining realm of Enchantment. We will discuss some of the basics of this often-misunderstood path and perform a rite to invoke the Old Powers for personal blessing, development, and a deepening of our own witch power.

Crafting A Flying Ointment

The Beginning

David Salisbury

Flying ointments from old Europe were made from a noxious mix of animal fats, poisons, and a number of nefarious ingredients. In this hands-on activity, we’ll craft a non-toxic, animal-free flying ointment that’s easy to make and replicate. While mixing our ointments, we’ll discuss the history of the Unguentum Sabbati, what it’s used for, and how the spirits of plants will aid us in traversing the otherworld. Take your container home and use for dream work, astral travel, and otherworldly trance
